Let’s face it folks… August in New Orleans is HOT! While you’re out and about exploring the city with sweat pouring from your face wouldn’t a yummy meal in a classic restaurant offer an icy oasis? Wouldn’t it be better if you paid less than $20 for a two-three course lunch and $39 or under for a three-course dinner? Well, the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau has you covered my friend with COOLinary New Orleans Restaurant Month.
There’s Still Time to Grab a Deal
August is normally a slow time for restaurateurs so to entice you to “come on by” more than 85 local restaurants are serving up dining deals. The restaurants are spread all over town—not just the French Quarter. You’ll find everything from filet mignon to sushi. It’s the perfect time to add a new place to your dining repertoire.
A Who’s Who of Restaurants Participate
Here are just a few.
- Carrollton Market
- The Court of Two Sisters
- Commander’s Palace
- Mr. B’s Bistro
- Tsunami Sushi
- Josephine Estelle
- GW Fins
Is that a typo on the menu?
I recently had family visiting from Virginia and after airport pickup we made a beeline to that marvelous mansion in the Garden District, Commander’s Palace, to grab their COOLinary deal.
We all found something we loved. And my visitors couldn’t believe Commander’s Palace 25¢ martini lunch special! Yep..that’s not a typo. Martinis are a quarter.
Don’t worry that you’ll go “beyond buzzed” status, Commander’s clearly puts the breaks on that idea limiting you to three martinis. Troubles melt away with each sip.
On the List
Next on my COOLinary list is a trip to the iconic The Court of Two Sisters in the French Quarter. I’m eager to try their duck proscuitto salad and pan-seared Gulf fish with lump crabmeat risotto, red swiss chard, chardonnay butter and microgreens…still haven’t decided on dessert yet.
It’s a win-win for you and for our local restaurants. Chefs create a special COOLinary menu for the month. Be sure to check out all participating restaurants and drool over their menus at www.COOLinaryneworleans.com
